Meet the Remarkable Journey of Mr. Justice (R) Yar Muhammad: From Remote Village to Legal Luminary

In the heart of a secluded village, Nasirabad, nestled within the breathtaking landscapes of District Astore, a young boy named Yar Muhammad was born on 03-08-1954. Little did anyone know that this humble beginning would mark the inception of an extraordinary life journey.
Mr. Yar Muhammad’s educational odyssey commenced at the modest Primary School Rattu, but his aspirations reached far beyond. He pursued his Matriculation at the High School Astore, where the foundations of his future were laid.
The pursuit of knowledge led him to the bustling city of Karachi, where he completed his intermediate and undergraduate studies at the esteemed Sindh Muslim College. However, his ambitions didn’t stop there. To master the intricacies of law, he enrolled at Urdu Law College in Karachi. But he wasn’t content with just legal expertise; he hungered for broader horizons. He obtained a Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Karachi and embarked on a journey as a prolific writer, with his articles gracing the pages of prestigious national newspapers.
After earning his Law degree, Mr. Yar Muhammad embarked on a legal apprenticeship under the guidance of Hassan Jafer Advocate in Karachi. His return to his native Gilgit marked a new chapter in his career. He was admitted as an advocate to the High Court Bar Association Gilgit and dedicated himself to the practice of law, a commitment that endured until 1987.
In 1988, fate took a turn. Mr. Yar Muhammad successfully navigated the rigorous examination conducted by the Federal Public Service Commission, Islamabad, and was appointed as a Civil Judge on 03-01-1988. For over 14 years, he donned the mantle of a Civil Judge cum Judicial Magistrate, serving in diverse regions of Gilgit Baltistan.
The year 2002 ushered in a new challenge as he assumed the role of District and Sessions Judge in District Ghanche, ultimately rising to the position of District and Sessions Judge on 20-01-2007. His career trajectory spanned various districts, including Ghanche, Skardu, and Diamer. Mr. Yar Muhammad’s influence extended beyond the courtroom, where he also served as the Registrar of the Gilgit Baltistan Chief Court.
His dedication didn’t go unnoticed. He was appointed as the Departmental Representative for the Federal Public Service Commission, conducting interviews for Civil Judges. In 2008, he enriched his knowledge by participating in a four-month Shariah and Law Course organized by the International Islamic University in Islamabad, with travels to Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt.
On 13-06-2014, Mr. Yar Muhammad’s career reached new heights when he was elevated as a Judge of the Gilgit Baltistan Chief Court, officially taking the oath of office on 19-06-2014. After over two years of service as a Judge, he gracefully retired on 02-08-2016 upon reaching the age of superannuation (62).
Mr. Justice (R) Yar Muhammad’s legacy is etched in the legal annals of Gilgit Baltistan. His judgments, bearing crucial legal principles, found their place in renowned law journals. From a remote village to the pinnacle of the legal profession, Mr. Justice (R) Yar Muhammad’s journey is a testament to determination, knowledge, and unwavering dedication to justice.
